FAQ’s

Q: Is there a dress code for students?
A:

Saint Mary School has an official uniform, which is required of all students attending our school. All students in grades K-8 are expected to wear the proper school uniform each day unless it is gym day or a designated special occasion. On occasion the school sponsors “jean day” when the students are permitted to wear jeans to school in exchange for a dollar donation to a specified charity or cause. Also, a student can have a non-uniform day on the child’s birthday.

Q: What is the enrollment?
A: The school (including preschool) has an enrollment of approximately 240 students.

Q: Are non-Catholic students required to participate in religious studies?
A: Yes, all students begin each day with a religion period and are required to participate in monthly liturgical celebrations as a school. All Holy Days of Obligation are observed by attendance at Mass when occurring on days when school is in session.

Q: Does Saint Mary School have any program for parents who are working at the dismissal of the school day?
A: There is an extended day program, when school is in session, from the close of school until 5:30 p.m. The program provides supervised care, structured activities and recreation for children enrolled in Grades K-8. A nominal fee is charged per hour, which is subject to change from year to year.

Q: Are Preschool and Kindergarten full or half day programs?
A: Full or half-day programs are available in the Preschool. Kindergarten is a full day program.

Q: Are there any field trips?
A: Field trips within our city and to nearby points of interest may be scheduled by classroom teachers throughout the school year. The trips are designed to supplement different aspects of the classroom curriculum and to introduce students to the resources of the community.
